Cecile Etzbach is a 13-year-old actress, singer-songwriter, and dancer from Miami. She appeared in the Miami premiere of the 2024 Tony-Award winning play Appropriate by Pulitzer Prize finalist Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Performing since the age of four, she’s a veteran of Laurie Beechman Theater and Miami’s GableStage, Olympia, Mandelstam, and Jerry Herman Ring theaters. On the national scene, she performs with Kids of the Arts (KOTA), Broadway Kids Auditions (BKA), Joffrey Musical Theater NYC, and Interlochen Arts.
MiamiArtZine writes "with impressive naturalism, Etzbach portrays Cassidy with the right mix of awkwardness, confusion, curiosity, and disappointment."
Florida Theater Onstage praised the cast saying "every artist connected with this production has brought their A-game."
The Miami Herald said "It's a fun night at the theater because it's so wrong in so many right ways."
GableStage Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport said "we have assembled a dream cast."
Since 1978, the Young Artist Academy™ has produced Hollywood's first and longest-running youth awards which recognizes and honors young talent between the ages of 5 and 18. Through year-round support, participants are primed for greater achievements in their craft.
Held in Los Angeles, CA and affectionately called the "Youth Oscars" by the Huffington Post, the academy has worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment, and is the only youth awards to be structured the same as major associations and guilds - with membership and peer voting.
For nearly half a century, the organization has been dedicated to educating, protecting, and mentoring young artists. Founded by Golden Globes Executive Maureen Dragone, the Hollywood Foreign Press continues to support the Young Artist Academy.
Cecile appeared as Cassidy in the Miami premiere of the 2024 Tony-Award winning play Appropriate by Pulitzer Prize finalist Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, a darkly comic American family drama presented in 2025 at GableStage’s historic Biltmore Hotel home.
Jacobs-Jenkins, a MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient and Fulbright Scholar, is considered one of America’s most inventive and profound playwrights. Appropriate received an Obie Award in 2014 and in 2024, a reimagined production, with an updated script and star-studded cast, was awarded the Tony for Best Revival.
The Miami premiere of Appropriate was directed by GableStage Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport, along with the cast of Etzbach, Rachel Bertram, Mark H. Dold, Tony Larkin, Suzanne Antrum, Natalie Donahue McMahon, and Brando Lafleur. “We have assembled a dream cast and design team,” said Newport.

FSFM’s mission is to leverage the proven benefits of early exposure to music education so that they will have the greatest impact on each individual’s future achievement, and help each student grow and develop into the future contributors and leaders they were meant to be. Making Friends sponsors fundraising and volunteer efforts that ensure six annual events benefit under-resourced music students in South Florida each year.
